New Delhi, March 29: It surely was the perfect start for Kolkata Knight Riders, but David Warner made sure that all was not lost for Delhi Daredevils.
After snapping three wickets in three overs, Kolkata Knight Riders were on cloud nine after they were asked to field first by Delhi Daredevils skipper Gautam Gambhir.
It was a dream start for Kolkata as they dismissed Virender Sehwag (8) in the first over, Gambhir (1) in the second and Dinesh Karthik for a duck in the third.
But despite the setback, it was David Warner who cruised Delhi Daredevils through the tough times and almost single-handedly took the team’s score past the 100-run mark in the fifth. With some mind-blowing boundaries and sixes, he also claimed a well-deserved half century.
Earlier, Delhi Daredevils won the toss against Kolkata Knight Riders here at the Ferozshah Kotla stadium on Monday, and elected to bat first.
Both the teams have witnessed similar fortunes in the last two weeks, where they won the first two matches and then succumbed to three consecutive loses before bouncing back with a comprehensive win in their last outing.
