New Delhi:Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today conducted the draw of lots for Haj pilgrimage for which the national capital has been allotted a quota of 1,224 seats for 2016.
A senior government official said that a draw of lots was done electronically to choose the pilgrims.
“Delhi has got a quota of 1,224 seats for Haj 2016. The total number of application received was 8,987,” the official said.
Expressing concern over the huge backlog of applications, Sisodia said, “We request the concerned central ministry to increase the quota for Haj for Delhi.”
“It is the national capital. The number of applications is very huge. The quota must be increased,” he said.
