Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and Congress secretary Digvijay Singh on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tardiness in taking action in the Vyapam scam may raise question on his integrity.
“The Vyapam scam is one of the biggest scams in India. The scam involved illegal employment in the medical colleges of the country as well as in the government sector. We have shared the relevant evidence in the matter with Prime Minister Modi. We also shared the evidence that I had given under oath. However, the court proceedings have not moved forward,” Singh told ANI after an audience with the Prime Minister.
“Thus, we have appealed to the Prime Minister that if strict action is not taken when adequate evidence is available then it will raise questions on his own integrity,” he added.
The Vyapam scam involved the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or Vyapam, which holds the exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments.
The candidates allegedly bribed government officials to make it to the list of those who cleared the test. (ANI)
