Delay in implementation of Minorities Welfare Schemes – Omer Jaleel admits

Hyderabad: Dept. of Minorities Welfare admitted that there has been a delay in the implementation of welfare schemes meant for Minorities. Permission has been sought from a Govt. for the implementation of bank linked loan schemes. More than 10000 applications of Shaadi Mubarak Scheme are pending. Second installment of Overseas Scholarship has not been released.

Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare admitted that there has been a delay in the implementation of various welfare schemes for minorities. He further said that attempts are being made to release the amounts to the beneficiaries as early as possible. He informed that 1.59 lakh applications have been received for bank linked loan scheme. The Dept. of Minorities’ Welfare decided to release the amounts to the extent of 20, 000 applicants through draw. He clarified that with the budget allocated by the Govt., it is not possible to give subsidy to all the applicants. If Govt. releases additional budget, more applications could be considered. He clarified that as per the guidelines formulated by the Govt., the amounts pertaining to Shaadi Mubarak Scheme would be deposited in the name of the mother of the bride. He also clarified that the enhanced amount of Rs. 20 lakh for overseas scholarship scheme would be applicable from the current financial year. It will not be applicable for the students of past two batches.
