A deserted housewife of Nellore district here on Friday attempted suicide by consuming rat poison before the office of the Human Rights Commission.
The housewife, Mastanamma, who was rushed to Osmania General Hospital, belongs to Nellore district. She was married to one Shiva last year. However, her husband married another woman some ten days back and deserted her.
Dejected with life due to her husband’s treachery, Mastanamma arrived in Hyderabad after some one told her that she would get justice if she appears before the Human Rights Commission. She said when nobody was not ready to hear her tale of woe in the HRC office, Mastanamma decided to end her life and consumed rat poison powder. However, she was rushed to the Osmania General Hospital where she was undergoing treatment. (NSS)
