Dehradun bandh evokes mix reponse

Dehradun, July 25: Youth Congress sponsored Dehradun bandh today evoked mined response as educational institutions remained closed whereas business establishments were open in many areas of the city.

More than two dozen Youth Congress workers courted arrest to press for their demand of a CBI probe into the murder of a city student Anshu Nautiyal two months ago.

Youth Congress workers had come out on the streets early in the morning. They took out a motorbike rally in many areas of the city shouting slogans against the apathy of the administration. At some places, the agitators clashed with the police which was determined to maintain normalcy in the city.

Ms Twinkle Arora, president, City Youth Congress, said despite heavy police deployment at Congress headquarters here, the workers in large numbers responded to bandh call and took part in demonstrations.

Anshu, a college student, was murdered and her dead body, packed in a bag, was dumped outside the residence of district magistrate.
