Mumbai: Anurag Kashyap’s Udta Punjab has emerged as the fifth highest weekend grosser of 2016 with Rs 33.8 crore in box office, despite facing all political challenges.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures Monday afternoon.

After making impressive opening of Rs 10.05 crore, the collections of the film only soared over the weekend. It earned Rs 11.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 12.50 crore on Sunday.
“The opening of the film was not that great but the film picked up during the day. It’s a mixed response. The film is doing decent in the north belt especially in Delhi while in Rajasthan, Gujarat and in the eastern belt the response is weak,” said film distributor, Rajesh Thadani.
The Abhishek Chaubey-directed movie reveals a hidden picture about the problem drug addiction in Punjab through the stories of a high-on-drugs rock star (Shahid Kapoor), a migrant (Alia Bhatt), a doctor (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and a policeman (Diljit Dosanjh).
