Defence Ministry employee’s house set afire by burglars

New Delhi, December 11: A house of a Defence Ministry employee in south Delhi was set on fire by unidentified burglars who also decamped with cash and jewellery worth around Rs two lakh, police said today.

The incident took place in Laxmibai Nagar area at the ground floor residence of Ramvir Bali, a property dealer, and his wife Anita, a Defence Ministry employee, early this morning.

One of the neighbours telephoned Bali, who along with his family was out of town for attending a marriage function since yesterday. The family was on their way back when it received the call from the neighbour.

The burglars had set on fire the ground floor and it was noticed by the people staying on the first floor, a senior police official said. They raised an alarm and informed fire office and police besides telephoning Bali.
