Hyderabad: The State Congress Leaders on Saturday sought imposition of President’s rule in the State by the Governor in the wake of defection of their party MLAs.

A delegation of Congress leaders, led by AICC State incharge RC Kuntia and former Union minister Veerappa Moily on Saturday submitted a representation to Governor ESL Narasimhan to immediately intervene into the issue of defection of Congress MLAs. They also urged the Governor to send a copy of their representation to the President of India for imposition of President’s rule in the State.

He said they had proof that all the resignation letters released by the defected party MLAs were typed at Chief Minister KCR’s camp office. RC Kuntia said the Congress MLAs, who have defected to the TRS party should resign from their posts first.

TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the ruling party leaders were destroying all democratic norms by encouraging the defections of MLAs from all the Opposition political parties. He said they had enough evidence that none other than the Chief Minister was behind the defection of Congress MLAs and added that the MLAs were bought by spending Rs 10 to Rs 15 crore.
