New Delhi, June 28: Delhi’s terrible summer heat went up a few notches as the Bachna Ae Haseeno actress, Deepika Padukone touched down in the Capital in a sultry avatar. The temperatures would have killed, but that could not deter Padukone’s fans from lining up to catch a glimpse of the dusky beauty. The 23-year-old was a stunner in her knee-length green dress.
“I am sweating as much as you guys. The summer really tires me,” she said. Clearly, she looked as uncomfortable at a badly-managed event as the hordes of waiting journalists, but that did not stop her from flashing her 100-watt smile.
Much to our chagrin, Padukone turned up almost an hour late for the event that marked the launch of a famous watch brand. It must have been her quick nap in the flight helped her look fresh and spunky in the Delhi heat.
A cramped venue packed with reporters and cameraman didn’t help matters at all. In fact, Padukone was hurriedly pulled away by her brand manager Atul Kasbekar once she was through with a quickfire Q&A session with scribes.
Despite the fact that she received a warm (literally!) welcome, she was still game to oblige reporters as she answered a few queries on her upcoming venture in the Saif Ali Khan production, Love Aaj Kal. Padukone said Love Aaj Kal is “a cute movie and can be watched with the entire family.” She probably forgot her much- hyped kiss with Saif Ali Khan in the Imtiaz Ali film. She immediately jumped to defend the kiss.
“Love Aaj Kal is about love the way it exists in today’s milieu, and therefore, the depiction of intimacy between the couple. But it is a film which you can see with your family and then go discuss over dinner,” she explained.
Love Aaj Kal is set for release in the coming few weeks, but there seems to be no love-lost between Khan’s girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and her. Of late, rumours have been rife about a rift between the two leading ladies over the role in Imtiaz Ali’s next venture after the superbly successful Jab We Met. “I am not bothered about it,” said Padukone. “Imitiaz offered me the film even before Jab We Met had hit theatres. So, that makes me very secure about it. I got this offer much before Om Shanti Om also,” added the actress.
Some time back, Bebo had openly expressed her wish to work with Imtiaz again after Jab We Met . “Imtiaz cast me and as a filmmaker, he was sure about his choice and it feels great to be working with him,” she said.
Interestingly, Padukone was unaware of the fact that Kareena too was shooting in Delhi for Raju Hirani’s Three Idiots . “I had no idea that she was also in Delhi. I thought she was in Ladakh. I am yet to meet her,” she said.
