Noida: A decomposed body of a 52-year-old journalist Babita Basu was found in her flat in sector 99 on Sunday morning.
Ms. Basu had been living alone on the 16th floor of Supreme Tower for the past 20 months and was on dialysis, TOI reports.
Her son works for a private company in Bangalore and has been living there for the past five years.
She had previously worked with TOI (digital) and only recently visited Chennai to look for a kidney donor.
Ms. Baus’s death was discovered only after her son broke open the door. It was her landlord who had first visited her to renew the rent agreement but she did not answer the doorbell nor the calls.
On sensing foul smell emitting from the house, the landlord immediately informed her son in Bangalore.
Land lord Arun Satijha said: ” Her son too, tried to reach out to his mother. When he could not get through to her, he called me up on Saturday night and requested if I could visit her. I told him about the foul smell in the house. He came to Noida this morning and broke the door in the presence of a police team.”
SHO Amit Kumar Singh said she appears to have died a natural death.
“She died 20-25 days ago. Prima facie, it looks like a case of natural death,” added SHO of Sector 39 police station.
