Hyderabad, June 10: There may be difficulties in filling seats in engineering colleges in A.P. It is estimated that nearly 50,000 seats may go vacant whereas there is a tough competition in Medicine and Agricultures streams. Candidates who didn’t take Entrance Test or who didn’t qualify it, can take admissions under the management quota.
As per the results of EAMCET 2,22,857 candidates qualified the test. The tragic part of it is that in 701 engineering colleges of the state 2 nearly 2.7 lakh seats are vacant. This year 20 new engineering colleges are ready to impart engineering education.
All India Council for Technical Education is insisting the candidates to secure 50% marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry at in Intermediate. Engineering colleges claim that only less than 10% seats may fall vacant this year. Last year, 20% seats remained vacant. Some students had sought admissions in various engineering colleges in other states on account of Telangana agitation. This tradition may be repeated this year also. The state has 6,800 seats in Medicine and 4000 seats in Agriculture whereas 55,995 candidates have qualified the test.
