Declare Telangana by Sept 17: KK to Centre

Hyderabad, September 05: Telangana Congress Steering Committee Chairman K Kesava Rao on Sunday urged the Congress high command to make its stand clear on the Telangana state formation by September 17. However, the Telangana Congress leaders would wait for Centre’s decision on the statehood demand till September 30.

Talking to media persons, Kesava Rao said that the Telangana leaders would decide their future course on November 1 based on the Centre’s decision on Telangana state. He, however, expressed confidence that the Centre would take a favourable decision on the Telangana state respecting the sentiments of 4 crore people in the region.

Stating that formation of Telangana state was very much possible this year, he criticized Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s recent statement that Telangana was not possible till 2014. He was also critical of KCR’s threat of consuming poison if Telangana is not formed. “Such statements would lower the morale of the Telangana people and will badly affect the on-going agitation,” he said.

Asking leaders and people not to get disappointed for the delay in the announcement of Telangana state, he advised political leaders to stop blame game on the issue. Stating that the Telangana Congress leaders would not retreat from their decision on resignations, he appealed to all leaders to mount pressure on Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu urging him to write a letter to Centre stating he has no objection for bifurcation of state.

Kesava Rao said that the Congress MPs would decide their future strategy on attending Lok Sabha session on Monday at his residence. He also announced steering committee’s total support total support to the general strike of employees starting from September 13.
