Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Dr N Raghuveera Reddy on Monday demanded that the Centre declare the devastation caused by Hudhud cyclone as national calamity.
Speaking to media persons at Indira Bhavan here, Raghuveera Reddy said that the Centre must bear all the losses caused due to cyclone, especially in view of the bad financial position of Andhra Pradesh Government. He also demanded that the Centre should immediately release Rs 2,000 crore relief, as demanded by AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on immediate basis. He also urged the AP Government to conduct the enumeration of losses on war footing basis to claim compensation from the Centre.
Raghuveera also informed that on APCC’s request AICC President Sonia Gandhi spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his full cooperation in relief and rehabilitation works in Andhra Pradesh. He requested the PCCs across the country to donate for relief works in cyclone-affected areas. (INN)
