Decision to rehabilitate innocent Muslim youth historical: MA Shabbir

Hyderabad, December 9: Welcoming the release of 70 lakh rupees by the government, for rehabilitation of Muslim youth wrongly implicated in Makkah Masjid blast, former state minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir today met chief minister. He declared the decision as historical and said that this is the first incident in the history of the country when the government has announced compensation for victims. He said that action should also be taken against police atrocities towards the Muslim youth post Makkah Masjid incident, as recommended by National Minority Commission.

He said the whole families of the youth, who were made target by the police, have been affected. These youth despite being acquitted are deprived of the government schemes. He urged the chief minister to immediately issue good conduct certificate to them so that they can obtain passport and get employment abroad.

He also met director general police Dinesh Reddy and declared appointment of just two Muslims, among 31 assistant commissioners in Hyderabad, as injustice. He said more than 40 percent Urdu knowing people reside in Hyderabad and in these circumstances ignoring Urdu knowing officers is regrettable. DGP assured to ensure appointment of Urdu knowing officials in Hyderabad within a week.
