Debts drive man to suicide

Hyderabad, November 22: Following his inability to clear huge debts that he accumulated, a 58-year-old man committed suicide by consuming some unknown poison.

According to Market police, the deceased – T Diwakar Rao was a resident of Pottagal village of Karimnagar district. He was an agriculturist, but fell into a debt trap due to his addition for gambling.

Diwakar came to the city on Nov 3 and checked into Sun Lodge near Secunderabad Railway Station the next day. On Monday morning, the lodge staff called the police after finding that the man was giving no response despite repeated knocks on the door. Police broke open the door and found that Diwakar was lying unconscious on the bed. He was immediately rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police suspect that heavy debts might have led Diwakar to commit suicide. Further investigations are on.
