Eluru, FEbruary 14: A pall of gloom descended in Dodditipalta village of Yelamanchili mandal in West Godavari district, as four members of a ryot family allegedly committed suicide today. According to Yelamanchili sub-inspector NSC Rao Reddy, the entire family resorted to suicide due to mounted financial problems.
Namani Rambabu (40), a betel leaf farmer incurred heavy loss due to heavy rains occurred in the last leg of 2010. He was going through a severe financial crunch and finding it difficult to run his family. With this, Rambabu, along with his wife Namani Venkata Lakshmi(35), his two daughters Navya(17) and Divya(13) consumed pesticide today and committed suicide, the police said.
Navya was pursuing her second year intermediate in a local junior college and Divya was in eighth standard.
The dead bodies have been sent to the government hospital, Palacole for postmortem.
