Death for CRPF jawan in multiple murder case

Former CRPF Jawan, who mercilessly killed his wife, two children and four others was sentenced to death by hanging by the district & sessions judge here on Monday.

Accused Sankar Rao was initially charged with killing his wife. As his two children and four others of his village gave evidence against him in the court, he had killed all of them on November 30, 2010.

The incident sent shock-waves in Mettapeta village under Jalamuru mandal of the district and several people, who deposed against Sankar Rao, fled the village fearing threat to their lives. Sankar Rao had murdered his children, severed their heads and placed the heads in the Shiva temple.

Initially no one argued on behalf of Sankar Rao as every one knew about his brutality. Lastly, one lawyer agreed to plead his case. Sankar Rao, who was whisked away by the police after pronouncement of the punishment, shouted at the media that he would appeal against the judgment. (NSS)
