New Delhi: The government on Monday extended the deadline to use demonetised currency notes to make payments towards utility bills till November 24.
“Exemption on old series of Rs 500, 1000 notes for certain categories extended till November 24 midnight,” said Shaktikanta Das, Economic Affairs Secretary.
The demonetised notes can be used for payments towards hospitals, public transport, pharmacies, consumer cooperative stores, buying gas cylinders, railway ticketing, airline ticketing at airports, milk booths, burial grounds and petrol pumps.
“This limit for such transactions is being extended from 14th November midnight to 24th November midnight,” Das told ANI. “This is keeping in mind public convenience and the representations we have received.”
