Deadline for linking Aadhaar to PAN extended till 31st December – Know how to link online

New Delhi: The government on Thursday extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar to PAN by four more months till December 31, 2017.

Aadhaar was to be linked with PAN by August 31, 2017. The date for linking Aadhaar with PAN has been extended till December 31, 2017,” an official statement said here.

“The ‘due-date’ for filing Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit prescribed under the Income-tax Act, 1961, has been extended from 30th September 2017 to 31st October 2017, for all taxpayers who were liable to file their Income Tax Returns by 30th September 2017,” the statement added.

Now, linking PAN with Aadhaar is made simpler by Income Tax Department. IT Dept. started online facility on its portal to link PAN with Aadhaar.

Steps to link PAN-Aadhar are as follow

  1. Visit website of Income Tax Dept. (https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/Services/LinkAadhaarHome.html)
  2. Enter PAN, Aadhaar number, Name as per Aadhaar and click on “link Aadhar” button
  3. If both Date of Birth and Gender is matched but the name is not exactly matched then One Time Password need will be provided.

According to the news published in DC, if the name on Aadhaar is completely different from what is written on PAN card, then card holder need to change his/her name either on PAN card or on the Aadhaar card.

Details on Aadhaar card can also be updated/corrected online via UIDAI official website, https://uidai.gov.in/.
