There was a time when Osmania General Hospital was thought to be the most modern hospital of Asia. But today it is in very pathetic condition.
An appalling incident came to the fore when it was reported that a dead lizard was found in the water cooler kept in front of the Nephrology department. Unknowingly people were using its water for quite long. Luckily when the water was not coming through the tap the cooler was inspected by lifting the lid. Only then it was found that a dead lizard was stuck to the tap hole of the cooler.
The attendants of the patients were shocked to see this as they were unsuspectingly drinking this water for quite some time. Ironically the patients who were admitted to the hospital for cure of ailments were drinking the same poisonous water.
It has been found that Heda family of Nizamabad had donated this water cooler and Marwadi Yuvamanch is looking after its maintenance.
As far as the Osmania hospital is concerned it has always been the victim of government’s negligence. Though people from far off places come for treatment at the hospital but the hospital is pathetically unhygienic. Not only Osmania hospital but all the architectural masterpieces built by Qutub Shahi and Asaf Jahi rulers including, courts, hospitals, libraries and educational institutions are the victim of carelessness of the government.
