DDCA row: AAP files caveat in HC

New Delhi : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and senior Supreme Court advocate H.S. Phoolka on Monday filed a caveat in the Delhi High Court on behalf of party leaders Sanjay Singh, Ashutosh and Deepak Bajpai following the defamation case filed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley against them in the Patiala House Court over the issue of corruption and irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

“We have filed a caveat on behalf of Sanjay Singh, Ashutosh and Deepak Bajpai. We have requested the High Court that no order should be passed without hearing us,” Phoolka told ANI.

“When this matter will come up for hearing, which is likely to come up tomorrow, we should oppose this case and should oppose any kind of stay order being granted by the court,” he added.

Phoolka asserted that his party would not only prove that the leaders are innocent but also confirm that the allegations leveled against Arun Jaitley are correct.

Earlier, Arun Jaitley filed criminal defamation case against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders.

Jaitley has filed criminal defamation cases against AAP leaders Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Kumar Vishwas, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai in the Patiala House Court.

The Finance Minister had earlier filed civil defamation suit in Delhi High Court of Rs 10 crores against Kejriwal and other AAP leaders, amid a raging row over irregularities in the DDCA and allegations of corruptions against him by the Delhi Government. (ANI)
