Gurugram, Haryana: In a bid to ensure security arrangements, the deputy commissioner (DC) of Gurugram, Chander Shekhar Khare, has asked the Muslim community for a list of places where prayers will be held. While speaking to The Indian Express, he assured peace during Friday prayers that were disrupted by Hindu outfits.
According to the DC, he met with representatives of the Muslim community as well as with the Sanyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti separately, to make sure that all the communications are being done through the administration and officials. “This will prevent an outbreak of violence or friction during namaz this week,” said Khare, who is deployed as the deputy commissioner while Vinay Pratap Singh is on leave, said The Indian Express report.
“We are also working with the Muslim community to come up with a list of places where namaz will be read, so police personnel can be deployed as a precautionary measure,” he said. The head of Nehru Yuva Sangathan Welfare Society Charitable Trust, Wajid Khan has said a list of 90 places was prepared to be handed over to the officials on Thursday.
Gurugram Police had arrested 6 people in connection with a video showing Hindu outfit members disrupting Friday Prayer in Gurugram’s Wazirababd on April 20. The video was widely circulated on the social media platforms.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar adding up to the controversy backed the members of right-wing Hindu groups, and said that there was a considerable rise in people offering namaz in open, which should be read in Mosques or Idgahs.
