Dayakar flouted party directive: Harikrishna

Hyderabad, may 17: Finding fault with Telugu Desam senior leader E Dayakar Rao’s statement that he would obstruct the tour of YS Jagan in Warangal district, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Rajya Sabha member Nandamuri Harikrishna said today that by issuing such a provocative statement Dayakar Rao defied the party’s directives.

In a press release here today, Harikrishna, brother-in-law of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, said that the statement issued by Dayakar Rao was “irresponsible’’. He said that preventing leaders from touring districts to console the kin of those died unnatural death was undemocratic. “Stifling individual freedom amounts to violation of the Constitution,’’ he said.

It was unfortunate that some senior leaders, who were supposed to maintain restraint during the troubled times, were issuing provocative statements, Harikrishna said and recalled that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu had appealed to everyone not to obstruct the tours of political leaders, which was a fundamental right enshrined by the Constitution.

Making provocative statements by Dayakar Rao, who had been in public life for several decades, was nothing but defiance of the orders of the party high command, Harikrishna said.

Dayakar Rao announced in Warangal that they would obstruct the tour of Jagan, who is going to being his Odarpu Yatra in Telangana from Warangal this week.

Harikrishna wanted Dayakar Rao to maintain restraint and reminded him that those who wanted to continue in politics for long a period would not provoke people for temporary gains.
