Day temperature dip in J&K, Ladakh coldest place

Srinagar, November 26: A day after high altitude areas of north-west Kashmir experienced moderate to heavy snowfall, the day temperature in the valley dipped several notches, but the night temperature continued to show an upward trend for the second day today.

Leh was the coldest place in the state recording a low of minus 18.0 degrees Celsius, two degrees more than last night, while maximum temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius was recorded, Met office said.

Although there was no report of fresh snowfall from anywhere today, icy winds and overcast sky resulted in further drop in the maximum temperature with Srinagar recording a high of 9.0 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal.

However, the minimum temperature across Kashmir valley settled above zero degree Celsius for the first time in the past fortnight, thanks to overcast sky.
