Day curfew may be relaxed from Saturday

Hyderabad, April 02: After peaceful conduct of Friday prayers in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, in both curfew-bound and other areas, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner A.K.Khan said the curfew may be relaxed from Saturday. However, he said the relaxation would be for more number of hours.

The unprecedented security arrangements supplemented by exemplary restrain shown by the residents ensured peace in the entire city on Friday. Earlier in the day, the Muslim religious leaders issued a ‘fatwa’ (decree) asking the community to offer prayers at home or in nearby mosques. The Muslim community followed the dictat and prayers were conducted peacefully at all mosques while many people offered prayers in their homes.

About 50 people offered prayers at historic Mecca Masjid. As many as 31 companies of central forces including the Rapid Action Force, Central Reserve Police Force and the Central Industrial Security Force and over 10,000 personnel of City Police were deployed at all all strategic locations to monitor the situation.

The city has been peaceful since Tuesday night and now the Friday prayers too has went off peacefully. The Chief Minister Dr.K. Rosaiah is likely to review the situation on Friday evening and sources say, that it is most likely that the day curfew may be relaxed in all the 25 police station limits from Saturday onwards. However, the curfew relaxation may also occur in different phases.
