Dattatreyya slams GHMC for non-implementation of schemes

Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreyya on Saturday slammed the GHMC officials for being negligent in the implementation of developmental schemes in the city.

Participating in the debate on the implementation of SC, ST Sub-Plan in the GHMC General Body meeting, Dattatreyya said that there was no accountability on the part of officials. He said almost all 1800 slums in the city lack safe drinking water, drainage, sanitation, better roads and other facilities. He said Rs 300 crore sanctioned under SC, ST Sub-Plan for city slums remained unutilised.

Dattatreyya claimed that the United Kingdom Government had agreed to sponsor Rs 800-crore slum-free city project. However, the project remained unimplemented for the last one decade. He asked Mayor Mohammd Majid Hussain to fix accountability on officials to ensure that all funds meant for the city’s development are utilised properly. He said the proper utilisation of sanctioned funds would make Hyderabad free from poverty and slums.

The BJP MP also assured to liaison with the Central Government on the financial assistance needed for the GHMC areas. (INN)
