Former union minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bandaru Dattatreya on Tuesday strongly opposed the efforts being made by state government in connection with cancellation of the lease allotted to Mahaveer Trust in 1975 and wrote a letter to the chief minister explaining him the details regarding this. He demanded that the State Government immediately renew the lease license of Mahaveer Hospital, which is being managed by Bhagwan Mahaveer Memorial Trust or else he warned of large scale protest.
Recently leaders of a political party alleging that the trust is carrying out commercial activities deviating from the objectives of the allotted land requested to cancel the previous lease and allot the said land to them. On submission of a memorandum by the political party, chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the officials to submit a report on which district collector Hyderabad submitted a report stating that the state government may resume Mahavir Hospital land at AC Guards.
Bandaru Dattatreya appealed to withdraw any such proposal. In addition to renewing; the Government should lease-out two acres of adjacent land to the Mahaveer Trust to carry out their service activities, he said.
