The Director General and employees of NAC received the Union Minister for Labour and Employment B Dattatreya and made a presentation about the activities of NAC to the visiting dignitary. The presentation was followed with interaction by the Union Minister with the Electronic and Print Media. After the media interaction, the Minister visited the training infrastructure and interacted with the trainees of NAC.
The Minister in his interaction with the media has made the following points: Throughout the country Construction Workers are 4.30 Crore out of which 85% of the labour force is without skill. Under the ‘Skill India programme, the Minister envisaged that a new training scheme “Recognition of Prior Learning Skills” is launched for the Construction Sector for first time. A pilot RPL project was conducted in Madhapur for about 360 construction workers. National Academy of Construction is also entering into RPL training programmes on a pilot basis in a few days. Training is provided with worksite. The Ministry of Employment and Training, Govt. of India has recently sanctioned to set up a National Vocational Workers Institute for women at Mahabubnagar district in Telangana State. (NSS)
