Dattatreya reviews railway projects with SCR officials

Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya reviewed railway projects and development works along with MMTS Phase II, Road Over Bridges, Road Under Bridges, Peddapally – Karimnagar – Nizamabad project in particular with South Central Railway General Manager P.K.Srivatsava here on Monday.

Hyderabad District Collector Nirmala, Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board Managing Director Jagadishwar Reddy, MLA Chintala Ramchandra Reddy and senior officials of various departments participated in the review meeting.

During the review meeting, it was discussed that except for two major issues, the works on Cherlapally-Ghatkesar and Bollaram – Medchal stretches of MMTS Phase-II are progressing well.

First issue is a land dispute with defence authorities in Sanathnagar – Ammuguda line involving 4 KMs stretch. The Minister assured that he would take up this issue with Defence authorities and resolve it. Second issue was extension of Falaknuma – Umdanagar line to Airport for which GMR authorities are not agreeing. The Minister assured that he would take up this issue with Civil Aviation, Urban Development and Home Ministries along with GMR Management and find a solution. With the resolution of these issues, the project is likely to be completed by June-December 2017.

The officials told the Union Minister that Peddapally – Karimnagar – Nizamabad project work is progressing well and is likely to be completed by March 2016. Additional funds of Rs 50 Crores are required to complete the project and Railway Minister would be requested for the same.

New ROBs and RUBs at various busy locations was also discussed. For the RUB works where no level crossing gates are available, the GHMC has to propose the works or deposit terms. In case of ROB at Kandikalgate (LC 6) and RUB work at Uppuguda (LC No. 5), Railway authorities have agreed to temporarily stop the work and speak to locals.

The HMWSSB MD requested the Railways to resolve the issue of Godavari Water Pipe Line crossing at Mettuguda Railway Colony and Railways have agreed to work out this issue. He also requested for Musi River cleaning project under Amruth Scheme of Ministry of Urban Development and the Minister agreed to take up the issue with the Union Ministry of Urban Development.

Dattatreya, along with other officials inspected the railway site and under-passing at Khairtabad Railway Station which some anti-social elements tried to encroach upon. (INN)
