Criticising the Congress-led UPA government for increasing the prices of petrol and diesel, former Union minister and BJP national vice-president Bandaru Dattareya said the government totally failed to run the country efficiently.
In a statement here, Dattatreya has termed the hike of petrol and diesel prices as “undemocratic and unconstitutional” because the government has announced hike of the petrol and diesel when Parliament was in session. “The common man is very angry and frustrated with the inaction of the government”, Dattareya said.
“If the Congress government cannot handle running of the country in an efficient manner then better resign and go for the people’s verdict to elect a dedicated and efficient government,” he said and warned that the BJP would launch an agitation against the decision of fuel hike.
During the past three months, the fuel price has been hiked six times making the common man to suffer, he said. The common man is not so innocent as to fall for this deception. The fuel price affects every commodity in the market. When the devaluating rupee is affecting the common man’s life as never before, wherein his survival itself has become a question in these times, he said, adding that the decision of increasing the prices was completely wrong and unethical.
Criticising the inaction of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, the BJP leader said the former should immediately reduce VAT on petrol and diesel to give some relief to the people. (NSS)
