Telangana Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy met Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya here on Sunday seeking help in taking up renovation of existing hospital for Beedi workers at Nirmal in Adilabad district besides the construction of a new 50-bedded hospital.
Indrakaran Reddy told the Union Minister that due to large number of labourers, Beedi workers and employees in the area, there was a need for opening Sub-Regional Provident Fund Office at Nirmal. He further requested that the Central Government extend more financial assistance for the forthcoming Krishna Pushkaralu. He also sought liberal finance for the ambitious double bed room housing project taken up by Telangana Government.
Responding to the representations, Bandaru Dattatraya stated that the Centre would actively consider the repairs for the existing hospital and also the construction of new hospital at Nirmal for Beedi Workers. He also stated that the hospital management was given to ESIC which would help in providing better medical facilities for Beedi workers.
Dattatraya also assured for taking up the request to provide more funds for Krishna Pushkaralu as well as the housing project of the State Govt with the Centre. He further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government was very much committed for the health, well being and welfare of the labourers. In this context, the Central Government is addressing the issue of occupational diseases and developing special vaccine for the Beedi workers to protect them from TB and other allied diseases.
Further, Dattatraya urged the State Government to provide land for construction of housing for Beedi Workers in dense populated districts like Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad etc., The Central Government has already disbursed Rs. 10.45 Crores as scholarships to the children of Beedi workers and further, kept the budget to the extent of Rs. 14 Crores in the ensuing financial year.
The Union Minister further stated that for the development of Secunderabad Parliamentary Constituency, a special committee was being formed. The Committee would address the grievances of the common man and extend the facilities provided by the State and the Central Governments with ease for the public.
