Dattatraya asks KCR to control liquor menace

Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya wrote a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao asking him to impose control on scott free available of liquor and wipe out the menace.

Dattatraya expressed concern over the ill effects of Telangana State Excise Policy in the interests of “Bangaru Telangana”. He alleged that liquor was free available in the State and was being sold extended hours till late midnight through bars. He also objected to availability of liquor in malls and condemned the proposal to sell liquor in Tetra packs like cool drinks in the state etc.,

The Union Minister pointed out specific incidents like Baby Ramya accident case which took place due to liquor. A study revealed that nearly 30,000 students in the age group of 17-23 years were not attending schools and colleges and spending day time in bars. He said about Rs.30,000 crores of income of the poor, weaker sections, lower middle class people was being wasted on liquor.

Therefore, Dattatraya demanded that the Chief Minister take steps to wipe out the liquor menace and ill effects on the innocent people of Telangana State on immediate basis. (INN)
