Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Labour, Mr. Bandaru Dattatarya assured that he would make a representation to Minority Affairs Minister, Dr. Najma Heptullah for increasing Hajj quota for Telangana State. He was addressing a gather organized at Hajj House yesterday. He told that Dy. CM, Mr. Mahmood Ali has invited his attention on this issue.
Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali informed that Hajj quota for Telangana State is very less. There are 42 lakh Muslims in Telangana which warrants 4500 seats whereas the Hajj quota is 2700 only.
Special Officer of Hajj Committee, Prof. S.A. Shukoor told that the draw for A.P. and Telangana Hajj pilgrims is likely to be held on 28th March. He told that the Hajj quota for India is 1,36,200. This year, more than 12000 applications have been submitted from Hyderabad City whereas its quota is only 600. From Andhra Pradesh, 50 more applications have been received than previous year. He informed that it would be assured that Hajj volunteers who had already gone to Saudi Arabia are not selected this year. If complaints are received not only departmental disciplinary action would be taken against such Hajj volunteers but the entire expenses of Hajj would be recovered from them.
