Former union minister and BJP national vice-president Bandaru Dattatreya today welcomed the decision of Telangana government which has issued orders for an inquiry into irregularities in Indiramma housing scheme.
Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has issued orders for inquiry into irregularities of Indiramma houses constructed between 2004 to 1014.
In an open letter, Dattatreya said that there was official record that under various schemes about 22.40 lakh houses have been constructed for economically backward classes people during last ten years. But the facts are against the official figures, he said.
Dattatreya demanded the state government to conduct inquiry into the alleged role of officials, and also role of political leaders in the housing scheme. The government should also conduct inquiry into the quality and standard of material used in the construction, he said adding that basic amenities including drinking water should be provided in various Indiramma houses constructed around Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.(NSS)
