Bus Conductor’s son becomes MD, APSRTC

Mr. J.Purnachandra Rao took over as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of APSRTC yesterday. He is the son of a Bus Conductor. He took pride that his father was a Bus Conductor and now he has become MD. He promised that he will follow the footsteps of his predecessor, Mr. A.K. Khan and would try to make APSRTC a profitable corporation.

Close aides of absconding Narain Sai arrested in Faizabad

The Gujarat Police arrested two close aides of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu’s son Narain Sai here.

Searching for “absconding” Narain Sai, a special team of Gujarat Police conducted a raid at the residence of local jewellers Narsingh Soni and his son Chandan Soni and took them to Surat for further interrogation, said K K Jadega, who was heading the police team.

According to the police, they had inputs that Narain Sai was hidden at the residence of these jeweller, who were his close aides, for quite some days.

However the Gujrat Police team did not find Sai there.

Polling begins in Rajasthan

Polling began at 8 a.m. Sunday for the 200-seat Rajasthan assembly, an official said.

Around 40 million people are eligible to vote. Ballotting will take place in 199 constituencies as the election has been postponed in Churu to Dec 13 following the death of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate.

A total of 2,087 candidates are in the fray.

There will be over 47,000 polling booths across the state. Votes will be counted Dec 8 – along with those of Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Mayawati asks people to remove Congress, BJP from Delhi

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Saturday accused the Congress-led UPA Government of formulating wrong economic policies leading to inflation and other issues, and appealed to the people of Delhi not to get influenced by the tall claims made by big political parties. Old City mega health camp

A mega health camp was organized by Mr. Ali bin Ibrahim Masquati(TDP) at Sana Garden Function Hall near Charminar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. yesterday. A team of doctors of Olive Hospital consisting of Dr. Aijaz Baig (Cardiologist) Dr. Shahjahan (Orthopedics), Dr. Sultan (Physician) Dr. Waseema (Gynecologist), Dr. Monica ( Ophthalmologist) examine the patients. They were given medicines free. The doctors of ESI Hospital namely: Dr. Pradeep, Dr. Imran and others checked the eyes. Patients requiring Cataract surgery were sent to hospital.

Syed Valiullah Quadri appointed as president AISF

Three names were proposed for the election of new national leader of AISF, including state president of the federation Syed Valiullah Quadri on the occasion of the valedictory function of 3-day national conference held by All India Students Federation. After 4-hour long consultation the name of Mr. Syed Valiullah Quadri was finalized. He has been nominated as the national president of the federation, which was welcomed by all the leaders of AISF present at the Tagore Hall.

Minority Commission gives Rs 5 lakh, a house to kin of gas blast victims

Minority Commission chairman Abid Rasool Khan today said they have distributed Rs 5 lakh each to the next kin of five families, who were killed in a recent gas blast incident in Yakutpura in Old City of Hyderabad.

Talking to the media at the secretariat along with members Surjeeth Singh and Goutham Jain, he said the committee has taken stock of problems related to minorities and will provide adequate succor. The bereaved family members were given housing facility in Rajiv Swagruha project in Bandlaguda and the district Collector promised to provide them with outsourcing jobs to them.

All party meets on Brijesh Tribunal verdict soon

In what is called a face saving mood, the state government is all set to call an all party meeting on the contentious Krishna surplus waters issue followed by a verdict from Brijesh Kumar Tribunal. Besides facing a stiff opposition from home turf and opposition parties alike, the government is now planning to take opinions from all the parties and then move Supreme Court for a review.

Formation of Telangana in last stages

It is understood that the process of formation of separate Telangana State has entered its final stage. Central Govt. is getting ready to present Telangana bill in the parliament session starting on 5th December.

The GoM has disappointed Telangana leaders of the Congress by suggesting the inclusion of Kurnool and Anantapur to form Rayala-Telangana. The Congress leaders of Telangana who were celebrating the formation of Telangana got disappointed. The scene has completely changed now.

Datatriya demands fund of Rs 10000 crore for the state

BJP today demanded a fund of Rs. 10000 crore for the cyclone hit state Andhra Pradesh from the centre. The state was consecutively hit by three cyclones Phailin, Helen and Lehar.

Addressing a press conference here BJP leader Bandaru Datatriya asserted that the paddy crop in several places of the state particularly in East and West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur has been badly damaged by the cyclone. He slammed the centre and state governments for getting engaged in the process of bifurcation of the state instead of protecting the interest of farmers.

One dead as protests in Thailand turn violent

A man was shot dead in clashes in the Thai capital on Saturday between supporters of Premier Yingluck Shinawatra and anti-government protesters, who intensified their campaign by besieging several government buildings.

Gunfire was heard during the clashes near Rajamangala Stadium between protesters and “red shirts” or supporters of Yingluck’s brother, former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, who is currently in self-exile.

Awareness programmes to be held in AP for Sardar Patel’s statue

Awareness programmes will be held in Andhra Pradesh for the proposed statue of Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Home Minister, for which iron is being collected from across the country.

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust (SVPRET) will conduct programmes in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati to create awareness about the project and its iron collection drive, Gujarat Minister of State for Law and Justice Pradipsinh Jadeja told reporters here today.

Telangana leaders caution Naveen against Jagan

Seeking the support of BJD for the formation of a separate state by dividing Andhra Pradesh, a delegation of Telangana leaders today cautioned Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to be ‘careful’ with YSR Congress leader Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“Please be careful with him and do not give support to a corrupt person,” Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao said in a memorandum to Patnaik.

“As per 2004 election declaration, Jagan’s assets were Rs 9.2 lakh, but by 2011, it reached Rs 365 crore. You can imagine that within 7 years, how this huge jump can happen.”

India on Saturday asserted that it would not rest till the Sri Lanka implemented the 13th amendment and insisted on an “elaborate, independent and genuine probe” acceptable to the international community into the ‘genocide’ by that government during 2009 civil war.

Preservation of democratic system inevitable to curb communalism

Whistleblower Vijay Pandhare retires; set to join politics

Maharashtra Water Resources Department Chief Engineer, Vijay Pandhare, the whistleblower of the alleged multi-crore irrigation scam in the state, today retired from government service and expressed desire to join politics.

Pandhare, who was given a farewell at the department here, later told a news channel that he would join politics. He alleged that in the last thirty years, he had seen both Congress as well as BJP indulging in corrupt practices.
