Saudi youth rapes childhood friend at knifepoint

Riyadh, August 04: A young Saudi man raped his childhood friend after threatening him with a knife following a party at a rest house in the Gulf Kingdom.

The man, in his 20s, was walking back with his 19-year-old friend after the party when he asked him to come with him to a dark lane for an important subject.

“When they were alone, the man pulled out a knife and put it on his friend’s neck…after raping him, he fled…police are still searching for the rapist,” Kabar newspaper said in a report from the southern province of Almajardah.

Govt invokes ESMA: Strikes banned

Hyderabad, August 04: Government has invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) to face the situation arising out of the proposed general strike of the Telangana employees. GO 166 was issued on Wednesday, invoking the act. Only Finance, Pay and Accounts and Treasury departments were brought under ESMA for the present. As strikes are banned under ESMA, if employees abstain from duties, they would not only loose their jobs, but also face the prospect of going to jail.

Molested teen raped by ‘Baba Bam Dev’

New Delhi, August 04: A 26-year-old ‘baba’ was arrested here for allegedly raping a teenaged girl who had approached him for counselling as she was repeatedly sexually abused by her previous employer, police said on Wednesday.

Baba Wam Dev Ram alias Bam Dev, who also goes by the name Ramji Maharaj, was apprehended from Punjabi Bagh on Tuesday, ACP (West) V Renganathan said.

“Ramji, who hails from Heala Ranchi in Jharkhand, is wanted in a gang rape case lodged in Rani Bagh police station. He was also arrested in a kidnapping case in 2006 in Simdega of Jharkhand,” he said.

Hyderabad, August 04: The Telangana students’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) has postponed the Telangana shutdown to Aug 8 to demand deletion of clause 14(F) from Presidential Order.

JAC, which is spearheading the movement for a Telangana state, Wednesday called the shutdown Aug 8 instead of Aug 5 as announced earlier.

JAC is demanding the government not to conduct exam for recruitment of sub-inspectors of police till clause 14(F) is deleted from the Presidential Order of 1975 which treats Hyderabad as a free zone for police recruitment.
