India`s leading Islamic seminary Darul Uloom has issued a fatwa saying, shaving or trimming beard is against the Shariat and thus it is un-Islamic.
The fatwa was sought by Mohammmad Irshad and Mohammad Furqan who run a barber shop.
The fatwa was issued by muftis- Faqrul Islam, Waqar Ali and Zain-ul-Qasmi.
In 2012 Deoband issued an order banning its students from using mobile phones with cameras and seized 14 such devices from the hostel. In the same year the institution had issued a fatwa against tattoo and use of perfume with alcohol content.
Deoband has also outlined six norms for investment in capital market by Muslims. The Islamic seminary has said followers can invest in the equity of a company which is not involved in production of liquor and interest-based businesses.
The Islamic seminary had also issued a fatwa against full body scans, ruling that the exercise is against the Shariyat law.
