The Review Committee constituted by Central Wakf Council is meeting today in New Delhi. The committee consists of Justice Bilal Nazuki (Chairman), Justice Syed Hyder Abbas Raza, Mr. Syed Shakeel Ahmed, Mr. Iqbal Shaik and Maulana Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani (members). Mr. Syed Afzal Mehdi, Chairman of Managing Committee of Dargah Husain Shah Wali and Mr. Mohammed Shafeequzzaman, IAS (Rtd.) have been invited as special guests.
In order to restore the valuable wakf land measuring 1654 acres occupied by Lanco Hills, this review committee was constituted. The Chairman of Wakf Board has been nominated to this committee as ex-officio member. Mr. Shafeequzzaman has been inducted into the committee on account of his experience in dealing with wakf cases. Mr. Afzal Mehdi is a party in court case.
It may be noted that Govt. of A.P. through A.P. Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation had allotted wakf lands to many multinational companies. In the same way Lanco Hills was also allotted wakf land. The ownership case between MNCs and Wakf Board is pending in Supreme Court. The meeting has been convened to review the steps to be taken in this case.
The chairman of Wakf Board said that the board has many expectations with this committee. It will ensure that there should be no lapse in pursuing the case in Supreme Court. The committee headed by Justice Bilal Nazuki, former Chief Justice of A.P. High Court will review the steps to be taken in this case. The committee will meet in the conference room of the office of minister of Minorities Affairs, Mr. K. Rahman Khan in New Delhi.
