Damodar Reddy defends T Cong MPs action in parliament

Supporting the Telangana Congress MPs action in the Parliament on Tuesday demanding separate Telangana State, Congress senior leader and Suryapet MLA R Damodar Reddy has urged the Congress Core Committee to take a decision on Telangana issue at least now.

Speaking to the media at CLP office here, Damodar Reddy said that the Telangana MPs were not stalling the House for the sake of their personal agenda, but they were doing it to fulfill the wishes and aspirations of Telangana people.

He said that the Telangana Congress leaders would take the responsibility of ensuring the victory of the Congress candidate in Parakala in the forthcoming bye-elections, if the Centre announced that the process of creation of separate Telangana would be started.

Stating that stalling of Parliament by the Telangana Congress MPs was good, Damodar Reddy said that there was no need to do the same in the Assembly. The Centre has the power to create the separate State and hence the MPs were fighting in the Parliament, he said.

He opined that the TRS leaders had already announced in the past that they will merge their Party in the Congress if the Centre announced that the process of creation of separate Telangana has begun. He also said that the TRS will support the Congress party in Parakala constituency and work for ensuring the victory of Congress candidate, if the Centre announced that the process of creation of separate Telangana was started.

Asked about the 18 constituencies in the Seemandhra region if the Centre made an announcement on separate State, he said that one has to pose this question to the Seemandhra leaders and not to him. (NSS)
