Andhra Pradesh Dalitha Mahasabha State executive member Nethala Ramesh Babu has demanded that the State government file a case under SC and ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act against 300 villagers of Sriparru of Eluru Mandal of West Godavari district for attacking them to vacate 300 acres of their cultivation land.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, Ramesh Babu, who belongs to Komatilanka village under Eluru Mandal alleged that over 300 persons belonging to Vaddi community had attacked them to vacate the land allotted to them by the government earlier. He said that over 300 families had been cultivating the land since the last 100 years.
Though they have lodged a complaint with the Eluru Rural Police on March 1 this year, the police officials have failed to take action against the offenders so far. He also urged the police to withdraw order under Section 144 Cr.P.C. in the village.
Ramesh Babu said that they have submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy seeking security and to initiate action against Vaddi community people. He said that they have also submitted a memorandum to SC and ST Commission Deputy Commissioner Subba Rao to take action against them. He said that they would approach the State Human Rights Commission on May 6 in this regard.
