AICC secretaries Kunthiya and another on Tuesday warned that action would be initiated against party leaders, who supported independent candidates in the ensuing Rajya Sabha elections.
The AICC secretaries held discussions with Dalit ministers in the light of rumors that the Dalit leaders would vote against the candidature of Tikkavarapu Subbarami Reddy. Pointing out that some Congress leaders had signed on the nomination papers of independent candidates of Rajya Sabha elections, the duo said stern action would be taken against them by the party high command.
The AICC Secretaries also assured to bring the views of SC, ST ministers to the notice of the party high command. They also assured the Ministers that they would fix an appointment with AICC president Sonia Gandhi after completion of winter sessions of the Legislative Assembly.
Earlier, Dalit ministers Balaraju, Kondru Murali and Dokka Manikhya Varaprasada Rao requested the AICC Secretaries to ensure opportunity to the SC and ST candidates in Rajya Sabha elections. They also expressed displeasure over empty hand shown to SC, STs in RS elections. (NSS)
