Laxmipet Dalit Porata Sangeebhava Committee, formed by 50 peoples’ organizations to consolidate the agitation of victims of Laxmipet agitation, has decided to hold
protest dharnas at all the District Collectorates on July 4, demanding arrest of the main accused in the case.
Speaking to the media here, the Committee convenor and Republican Part of India (RPI) president Bojja Tharakam said that the police had not yet arrested the main culprits in the case Bosta Vasaudeva Naidu and Avula Srinivas. The Rajam MLA and Minister Kondru Moralimohan was protecting the two accused. Stating that Botcha Vasudeva Naidu was also a close relative of PCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana, he informed that the local people were also alleging that Botcha Satynarayana was protecting Vasudeva Naidu.
As per SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act, inquiry should be completed and charge sheet should be filed within 30 days. Though the attack took place on June 12, the police have still not recorded even the statements. Actually, the investigative officer Additional SP should record the statements in the case. But SI and CI level officers were trying to record the statements that would weaken the case, he apprehended. A Special Court should be setup at Laxmipet for speedy trial of the case, he demanded. also demanded that 250 acres of land under Madduvalasa project should be allocated to SCs in Laxmipet. Stating that the government has failed to take rehabilitation of Laxmipet victims, he alleged that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government was anti-dalit.
To consolidate the agitation of Laxmipet dalits, the Committee would hold Challo Visakhapatnam, Challo Vijayawada and Challo Tirupathi. If the government failed to respond to the demands, Chalo Hyderabad would be taken up, he added.
U Sambashiva Rao of BC Mahajana Sabha, Mrs Jaya of Chaitanya Mahila Mandali, Chikkudu Prabhakar of Telangana Praja Front, Duddu Prabhakar of Kula Nirmulana Samithi, P Bhasker of Dalitha Bahujana Front and Jhansi of Dalitha Stree Shakthi were also present. (NSS)
