Washington, January 26: Special envoys for the Dalai Lama arrived in China Monday for talks with Chinese officials, the US State Department said, adding that the United States strongly supported dialogue between the two sides to address their differences.
“The United States was pleased to learn that the Dalai Lama’s special envoys arrived today in China for their ninth round of meetings with Chinese officials,” State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said.
“The United States strongly supports dialogue between China and the Dalai Lama’s representatives to address longstanding differences,” he said.
“The administration hopes this meeting will produce positive results and provide a foundation for future discussions to resolve outstanding issues.”
