Dadri: In yet another incident of crime Sub-Inspector Akhtar Khan of the Uttar Pradesh Police was on Monday morning killed in an encounter with some criminals in Greater Noida’s Dadri area.
The sub-inspector has been identified as Akhtar Ali Khan who was a part of the police team which was conducting a raid in Greater Noida area in order to catch some suspected criminals.
“The police team was conducting a raid at Nai Abadi area to arrest a criminal Fukran who was wanted in many cases of armed robberies. Khan was leading the team. He was the first to enter in the house of the suspect. As he stepped inside the house, one of the suspects started firing. He got shot in the neck and died at the spot,” said Anurag Singh, deputy superintendent of police, Dadri.
Last week in Dadri, fearing riots, authorities allegedly refused to register marriage of a Hindu man and a Muslim woman.
The officials said that they did not communal tension to be sparked by such an event. The couple from Chitehra village failed to get their marriage registered even after six months as officials disagreed to their decision. Last year, communal forces cause riots after the mob-lynching of 52-year-old Mohammad Ikhlaq over rumours that he slaughtered a calf.
