Dadri:The villagers in Bishada village of Dadri demanded an FIR to be registered against Akhlaq’s family. A panchayat was held on Monday to discuss Mohammad Akhlaq’s lynching incident.
According to the report prepared by a forensic lab in Mathura the meat sample belonged to a “cow or its progeny. The report came eight months after Akhlaq was lynched by a mob that accused his family of storing and eating beef.
Sanjay Rana, father of a suspect Vishal, formerly associated with the BJP said. “We want police to register an FIR against Ikhlaq’s family for slaughtering and eating a cow and change the sections of FIR against the accused from murder to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.”
Mohd Ikhlaq’s family has rejected the probe report that said the meat found at his house was beef.
Yusuf Saifi lawyer of Ikhlaq’s case said. “We feel the report is manipulated. We will seek the court’s intervention. It should be probed thoroughly,” he also said that he would challenge the forensic report and demand a fair probe.
A village elder Pratab Singh Sisodia, who read some parts of the Quran said, “Surah al bakrah says cow slaughter is not allowed in Islam. Akhlaq may have been a victim, but ‘we’ are the bigger victims.”
Members of the Shiv Sena also attended the panchayat and extended their support to families of the accused.
Mahesh Kumar Ahuja, a Sena leader from Ghaziabad said. “It’s a failure of law and order. The police don’t listen to Hindus. If a person has slaughtered a cow, he or she should be put behind the bars. Law should be the same for everyone.”
