New Delhi: Fifteen out of eighteen youth accused of lynching Mohammad Akhlaq in September 2015, on rumours of storing beef in his house, have landed contractual jobs with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)Limited, a public sector undertaking, reported The Hindu.
Mohammad Akhlaq and his son Danish were dragged out of their house in Bishahra village of Dadri and mercilessly attacked by a mob on rumours that they had slaughtered a cow and stored its meat in their fridge.
Akhlaq succumbed to the injuries on the spot while his son sustained critical injuries.
According to a report in The Hindu, the local BJP MLA, Tejpal Singh Nagar in a meeting with senior NTPC officilas on October 9 managed to convince them for this arrangement by terming the accused as “innocents’ and said they are worthy of a “better deal”.
“Yes, we have agreed to give jobs to unemployed youths of Bishahra,” an unidentified NTPC spokesperson told The Hindu. “It has nothing to do with Akhlaq’s lynching. Contractual jobs have been offered to many residents of Bishahra village because it is the NTPC’s policy to give jobs to all project-affected persons based on their qualification and expertise.”
