DADRI: Three men were arrested in Greater Noida’s Dadri for allegedly trying to kill their 22-year-old sister by attacking her with acid as they were opposed to her relationship with married man.
According to media reports, the alleged attack had taken place on Thursday, May 9.
The accused brothers were identified by their first names — Irfan (27), Rizwan (22) and Imran (24). Irfan and Hafeez were allegedly directly involved in the attack, while Imran arrested from Dadri bus stand has been supporting the conspiracy.
All three are residents of Bulandshahr and worked as labourers in different factories and construction sites. The brothers had been on the run since the past month and also announced a reward worth Rs 25,000 on their arrest.
On pretext of taking her for a drive, the two accused took their sister Salma (22) out of their home and in the middle of the drive, they allegedly threw acid on her face.
After splashing acid on her face, the accused allegedly pushed their sister out of the car. She was later found lying unconscious and critically injured on the road by a passerby who informed the police.
She sustained burn injuries on her neck and shoulder and was admitted to Noida’s district hospital but later referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi where she under treatment and out of danger.
“She will remain in the hospital for another month. The victim’s family members have refused to stay with her. We have deployed a female in the hospital for her security,” Malik said.
The three suspects during interrogation confessed to having committed the crime. “The suspects said their sister was in a relationship with a married man, who was the son of their landlord in Bulandshahr. The family members were against this relationship. They asked the woman to stay away from the man, but she refused,” said Neeraj Malik, station house officer, Dadri police station, as per Hindustan Times reports.
A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
