More than a thousand employees, from neighbouring states, have also been deputed to assist the state entities like Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL)and CESU (Central Electricity Supply Utility), said the official.

Reportedly the strongest tropical cyclone to hit India in last 20 years, the cyclone on May 3 uprooted lakhs of electric poles, transformers and led to collapse of towers.

Puri, Kendarapada, Jagatsinghpur, and Bhubaneswar are some of the worst affected areas in the state. The Centre and the state government are working on war footing to restore normalcy in the state.
