Hyderabad, May 15: From now on, every petitioner approaching Cyberabad police would be considered as a ‘customer’.
Going the corporate way, Cyberabad police have decided to give its policemen training to mend their indifferent attitude towards petitioners coming to the police station, by treating every citizen as a customer.
Director-general of police K Aravinda Rao launched the ‘Citizens as Customers’ training programme for sub-inspectors on Saturday in coordination with GE volunteers.
Cyberabad commissioner Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said every Saturday, 25 policemen will be trained by GE volunteers in attending, listening and providing empathy to petitioners coming to the police station.
“On an average, 10,000 people visit 41 general police stations and 11 traffic police stations in Cyberabad, daily. But all petitions given to us cannot be addressed since some do not come under our jurisdiction. But if a petitioner is received in a polite manner by showing some sympathy for his grievance, he will feel much better,” Tirumala Rao said.
Addressing the trainees, Tirumala Rao said on several occasions policemen are under pressure to help people especially in recovery of money and others. But this type of training would help them to handle pressure.
